Join the Detroit Midwifery School on Thursday May 29th for a free public screening of the documentary At Your Cervix, a new film exposing the little known unethical practice of conducting non-consensual pelvic exams on unconscious patients. In an era when conversations about consent and reproductive justice are front of mind, At Your Cervix shines a light on the use of unconscious patients by medical students for practice, and what’s being done to change it.

Doors will open at 5:30pm, the film will begin at 6:00pm, discussion to follow.


Learn working global definitions of obstetric violence, practice resiliency skills and strategies for supporting clients, discuss advocacy strategies for interrupting harm, as well as learn potential avenues for reporting obstetric violence. This workshop is intended for student midwives, midwives, birth and postpartum doulas, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, nurses, patient advocates, medical personnel, or anyone in the birth work and care work community who has contact with people in the childbearing and postpartum year.

This is a free event sponsored by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund.

$50 fee for those seeking to obtain 0.7 MEAC CEUs.


Join community midwife, Toni Hill, CPM, and the Detroit Midwifery School to learn the fundamentals required to provide assistance to midwives in the home birth setting. Skills covered include recognizing prenatal complications, advanced labor and delivery support, reviewing emergency situations, and cultural competency.

Sliding scale payments are available and based on The Green Bottle Method. Pending CEU Approval.
